Our Story

How We Met
0nce upon a time, from across the bar she saw a man in a women’s bathrobe and thought, "Yes, that’s the one. I’ll be marrying him in 4 years…" Ok, not exactly, but close.

Tony and Kate met at the Cambridge Brewing Company’s annual Pumpkin Fest in October of 2014. Tony had several years under his belt of being a member of the most popular, beloved costumed-beer-tasting-team at the beerfest, and Kate was being introduced to the event for the first time. Kate came as Mrs. Peacock, complete with bloody candle stick, and was brought by her sister, Megan, who will forever take credit for the lovebirds' union. Tony arrived with his band of fellow Westerosi as the Red Viper of Dorn, Prince Oberyn Martell. If you don’t know who that is, don’t worry, neither did Kate - she just saw some bathrobe-donned guy with a chinstrap beard. This Dornish hero bravely asked the big sister’s permission and then handed over his phone number to the colorful murder suspect, realizing shortly after that he had forgotten to ask for Kate’s in return. But things worked out - Megan forced Kate to text him, Tony called Kate to request a date, and their journey began.

The Proposal
... happened. That's literally why you're here.
We suppose you want more than that though. Well...

It didn't take long for the happy couple to know that this was the real thing. After a few years of happily dating and living together without killing each other, it became clear Tony was probably the only person in the world who could put up with Kate's constant clutter. And Kate was the only person in the world to accept how long it takes Tony to get ready to leave the house (it's a really long time).

Deciding it was time to look at rings, Kate had some minor trouble deciding on a design. Finally finding the ring she loved after a plethora of confusing, inconsistent choices, Tony acted quickly and ordered the ring unbeknownst to Kate. And then she waited... And waited... And waited. Kate was very patient for the first month, relatively patient for the second month, and by the third month was convinced he either lost the ring or changed his mind....

But Tony had a plan: Kate had a three-day work retreat planned right before his birthday in June and he knew that would be the perfect time to strike. He shopped for the perfect proposal outfit, and spent more money than he should have on picture frames to decorate the apartment with pictures of the two of them, and then it was time. While Kate was gone he worked feverishly to fill all the frames, he sorted through far too many bags of Starburst to find her rare favorites (the pink ones), and he set up an alarming amount of tea light candles.

On the day Kate was to arrive back home, Tony stayed home from work to get ready for Kate's arrival. When Kate called to say she was on her way home, he got dressed up, transforming from the gross, un-showered frog into the charming prince. He prepared the celebratory drink choices and got into position in front of their window to watch for her car. And so he waited... And waited... And waited.

Unsurprising to most, Kate got lost on the way home and the extra wait nearly killed the anxious Tony.  As she finally came around the corner and parked her car, Tony ran around the room lighting candles and got ready to hit the 'play' button on the special music playlist he created. Tony heard Kate walk up the stairs, put her stuff down... and then went back down the stairs to retrieve the rest of her luggage. Sweating bullets, Tony prepared for take two. Kate opened the door flabbergasted to the scene in front of her... and then asked Tony to help bring in her luggage. Once that was done, Tony restarted the playlist and began take three. Dropping to one knee, he asked for her hand in marriage, and the two became engaged. THE END.
